Inter-school Literature Trip to Tokyo (27 April - 1 May 2024)
Over fifty participants from S.K.H. St. Mary's Church Mok Hing Yiu College, Sha Tin Methodist College, Henrietta Secondary School, including twenty-four girls from our school, went on the Inter-school Literature Trip to Tokyo, Japan to cultivate our interest in literature. During the trip, we gained a deeper understanding of the works of Japanese authors, wrote creative articles daily and developed a great sense of camaraderie.
Under the theme of “Exploring the Footsteps of Writers”, we visited famous literary landmarks associated with the works of famed Japanese writers Natsume Sōseki, Kawabata Yasunari, Dazai Osamu and Murakami Haruki. Places visited include Waseda University and the Natsume Soseki Memorial Museum, venues which fostered these authors’ creativity and interest in writing. Whilst there, we were honoured to have met Yasuhiro Yotsumoto, Okamoto Hiroshi, Hiromitsu Koiso, Kunimatsu Eri and Li Kotomi, contemporary Japanese authors who generously enriched our understanding through a series of lectures. From them, we learnt more about their perspectives on literature. This trip was rewarding and inspiring, and certainly enhanced our interest in reading and writing.
